Four months before it is due to open, METAV 2008 is right on course, according to the VDW (the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), which organizes the manufacturing technology and automation trade fair in even years. Some 500 exhibitors from 17 countries have already booked more than 40,000 m² of net exhibition space in Düsseldorf. This figure is comparable to the level of registration in the run-up to the previous METAV in 2006.
In fact, METAV Committee Chairman Detlev Elsinghorst is highly optimistic. “Next year will witness all the available space in the eight halls of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre being fully booked,” he promises, “and we may well even find ourselves a bit tight for space.”
The next METAV will take place from March 31 till April 4, 2008. In even-numbered years, the trade fair is the largest international technology showcase in Germany to display the full range of manufacturing technology and automation for European manufacturers and their customers. The 2008 edition should be unusually attractive for both visitors and exhibitors, as it coincides with the prominent international exhibitions Tube—the international pipe and tube trade fair—and wire—the international wire and cable trade fair. The three fairs will occupy the entire Düsseldorf exhibition centre.
The resulting synergies mean that all user groups will find a more comprehensive display of technology for metalworking than ever before. METAV will show the complete range of manufacturing technology, with special emphases on machine tools, manufacturing systems, precision tools, automated material flow, computer technology, industrial electronics, and parts and accessories, while the fair called wire will concentrate on machines, tools, and materials for wire production and processing and the Tube fair on machines, tools, materials, and accessories for the manufacture of pipes and tubes.
Well over 100,000 international trade visitors are expected to attend the tripartite event this coming spring.
