Patented, Ultralightweight Boring Tools

The TruLine Tool family of composite fine boring tools, developed in North America by a division of Johnson Carbide Products Inc., is being distributed in 13 Western and Central European countries by H.A.M. Precision Tools, a German carbide and tooling manufacturer, in accordance with a licensing agreement.

The ultralightweight, chatter-free boring tools are used by companies in the automotive and off-highway industries for the critical precision boring of cylinder-head camshaft bores and the crank- and wrist-pin bores on connecting rods.

Patented TruLine Tool technology involves the use of composite materials and polycrystalline diamond guide pads. The boring and reaming tools constructed by the specialist manufacturer weigh one-eighth as much as comparable carbide-body tools yet exhibit eight times the stiffness of carbide, significantly reducing cutting vibration and cutting-tool chatter.

Johnson Carbide Products has been designing and developing precision solid-micrograin-carbide cutting tools such as drills, end mills, reamers, saws, slitting saws, routers, countersinks, and burrs since 1953. H.A.M. Precision Tools, established in 1969, designs and builds solid-carbide standard, special, and polycrystalline diamond tools, as well as tooling with indexable inserts and brazed-carbide tools.
